Not a criticism of LG’s tweet but this is hardly an accusation when it is so obviously what he has done. Rewritten hitherto previously clear guidance to legitimise DC’s desperately poor, selfish decisions, & in so doing ripped their public health strategy to shreds.Unforgivable. https://twitter.com/lewis_goodall/status/1265665829988904960
As this thread shows to devastating effect, the Government’s delay in implementing lockdown has left The UK as the worst performing country in Europe in key measures. https://twitter.com/mattgarrahan/status/1265889859081768960?s=21 https://twitter.com/mattgarrahan/status/1265889859081768960
They have now, in my view, fatally undermined their ability to reintroduce necessary control measures in the very likely event of a second wave, with their ludicrous defence of D.C. as having acted “legally, reasonable, and with integrity”, effectively *commending* his actions.
This is what I can’t forgive. From the start I never expected DC to resign, because he doesn’t strike me as the sort of bloke who cares enough to. I didn’t expect a Johnson to sack him, because he doesn’t care either. I did expect everyone to accept what D.C. had done was wrong.
Because it so obviously bloody was. Having watched their frankly risible attempts to defend the indefensible, I now think they should both go. They have debased themselves and risked the effective management of the country in a crisis to save their own skins &that is unforgivable
