Perhaps the most striking thing is that the system seems to have the capacity to isolate you over and over again which may be quite likely for those w jobs w repeated exposures to infected people
You can’t do public health if you don’t have the trust & the enthusiasm of the public. We had that in abundance at the start of this: now it seems to have evaporated because of poor communication and lack of leadership and vision
This may prove to be an even worse crime than their slow and ineffectual response so far
This is why it’s hard - may prove impossible - to move on from the Cummings story. Words like “duty” are being invoked to persuade us to change our behaviour and it doesn’t feel like it’s going to work
Obviously reason this is all so bad is that we don’t have many ways out of this: if we don’t effectively test trace isolate then we either need a vaccine or the virus needs to just gradually die out of its own accord... which is unlikely
