Says the anime's schedule might have been uniquely bad for adapting MHA as Horikoshi has a tendency to dump an entire class worth of characters on you at a time and just as you're starting to become familiar with them there's a 6 month hiatus. My brain is expanding.

Each character dump by Horikoshi is introduced as a new stepping stone for the main trio pushing the actual core cast of the anime further behind them while Black Clover uses focused subplots to give each member of the cast personal development.
