What the ABC doesn't explain:

The Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation (YAC) asked for 5% royalties of $6bn/yr. That's $300m shared between 800ppl = $375,000ea.

They then revised to 0.5% - $37,500 for every man, woman and child on told of the dole. A family of four - $150,000 /2 https://twitter.com/abcnews/status/1265727583171129344
2. Fortescue offered 'a smaller payout and an education and employment package worth millions'.

Having seen the effects of alcohol in Roebourne where 224 children have been sexually abused (practically every child) perhaps Twiggy thought services would be better than cash. /3
3. "At a shareholders meeting in October last year, Mr Forrest said the Roebourne community was suffering from alcohol and drug abuse and "not a community I'm going to empower with tens of millions of your cash"" /4
4. Twiggy's CEO: "We currently have seven agreements in operation, delivering Native Title royalties as well as heritage management, training, employment and business opportunities. These agreements provide significant economic and social benefits to the relevant communities" /5
5. This, then, is neither a case of racism nor evil, greedy billionaires, but more of practical help and avoiding having already dysfunctional communities awash with cash that exacerbates problems.

They need more services, not more cash.
