They killed bike share. Rather than make a one time $400k investment to keep it, they will instead spend god knows how much to tear it apart & then 150k/year, indefinitely, to warehouse the bikes under lock & key. #HamOnt will literally pay extra to stop people from riding.
It might feel like this takes the cake. But there's much to reflect on lately, like the sewage leak that lasted a few years, and then that whole thing with the Nazis, and that one time the gang fed one billion dollars cash directly into a woodchipper, so...keep it in perspective.
... this is so bad
Let's also not forget the people who will lose their jobs, people who have contributed countless hours year-round in all weather conditions to maintaining and improving our city's cycling network. The city effectively just voted to lay them off.
It's late. We're all tired and we can't afford to succumb to despair; together we can & will find new ways to look after each other and our town. SoBi reminded us all what we can build together if only we have a bit of courage & common sense. Onward.
