I've seen a number of police chiefs come out with public statement unequivocally condemning what happened in the Floyd video -- an extent of public condemnation from law enforcement that would have been unthinkable 5 years ago https://twitter.com/ChiefDavidRoddy/status/1265758198608400386
Here's Harris County, Tx (Houston) Sheriff Ed Gonzalez https://twitter.com/SheriffEd_HCSO/status/1265834794841235457
Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall
Tucson, Az police chief Chris Magnus

Houston police chief Art Acevedo (Floyd's hometown, which has had a number of recent police shootings) https://www.fox26houston.com/news/houston-police-chief-condemns-officers-actions-in-death-of-george-floyd
Orange County, FL (Orlando) Sheriff John Mina https://twitter.com/SheriffMina/status/1265786922275831808
Many of the chiefs who've condemned are known reformers, and one could debate if this precise video a few years earlier may have sparked these responses. Still, having covered this issue a lot, I'm struck by the amount and extent of police chiefs weighing in on the Floyd shooting
That said, I imagine my activist sources will say: words after the fact are nice. George Floyd is still dead
(correction to two tweets up: Floyd wasn't shot. My brain/fingers sometimes default to "police shooting" cause that's what our data collection was. Not gonna delete and screw up the thread - you all knew what I meant. Goodnight friends!)
