DC Digital Firsts Trinity Issue 5s Edition

Sooo there's no more Trinity after this one, huh! Since WW:AoP doesn't seem to be publishing for the time being. I guess it's going to be World's Finest from now on.

QUICKPLOT: When Titano the giant Ape comes to Metropolis and gives Superman a harder time than anticipated, Lex Luthor grabs the opportunity
to upstage him by debuting his automated robot defenders. They're effective, that's for sure, but at what cost?

One thing I'm noticing about these Digital Firsts is, aside from being much more classic and elemental in their portrayals, they also get much more timely and
topical than mainstream books normally do. This story is, of course, a timeless Superman adventure, but it also looks to be opening the question of security vs. freedom. Is it worth turning yourself over to a tyrannical overseer in order to be free from physical danger?
I'd say most people would agree it's a question of balancing, but what is the proper balance? Superman is an all-powerful godlike figure in many ways, but he's also a fallible "human" who can't fix everyone's problems or be everywhere at once and and who tempers justice with
compassion and his best attempt at good judgment. Luthor, through his security bots, is omnipresent, capable of dismantling any foe, and seemingly creating a near total sense of safety... but robots lack human judgment and compassion and only "think" in stark facts. Like any
machine, literal or metaphorical, they can't take things into consideration.

Anyway, this is the first of three issues - interesting to see that the writers are starting to settle in for multiparters now - and I look forward to seeing where it goes. It seems like the outcome
is probably forgone based on, well, the premise, but I don't see a problem with that. After all, Superman is always the best guy.

Quickshot: Deadshot has his sites set on a target for assassination... the question is which one? And can Wonder Woman protect the target from the best marksman in the world?
This is a bit of an odd duck, actually, and I'm not sure what to make of it. Considering this is the last issue of WW: AoP for a while, I can only assume there was some issue that prevented Palmiotti and Conner from continuing. Mind you, this isn't a criticism of Jensen, it's
SUPERMAN: MAN OF TOMORROW #6

Quickshot: Picking up from where we left off last week, Clark Kent just saved a young man from being killed by Luthor's canons when they
interpreted his skipping out on a meal tab as supervillain activity. Now, with Luthor taking the opportunity to strike back at Superman for the destruction of his property, Metropolis must make its final choice between Lex's way and Superman's.
Somehow I didn't realize this issue had already come out, and also managed to mistake a 2 parter for a three parter. oops, but never you mind it. The second part of What Makes a City follows through on the promise of the first perfectly, and even manages to showcase Clark's
charming humility as a bonus. Who, other than Superman, would spend his life protecting a city and then be surprised when the city protects him in return?
