@ lrt / while numbers provide validation, it shouldn’t be a measure of skill. constantly benchmarking your work against something that fluctuates will only result to a downward spiral that’s hard to get out of.
i’ve been thinking about this for sometime now because obviously, readership for x1 fics have significantly lowered since the d* happened. honestly, it discouraged me too, watching my regular readers vanish like that.
but at the end of the day, creating is something you should do for yourself. in my case, it‘s cathartic & that’s why i continue on. idk i think what i want to say is, be self-indulgent & don’t be swayed by numbers. ofc, it also helps to have a small circle that will encourage you
also, be aware that interests can change! sometimes people simply find other stuff to focus on. it’s not because your works became bad, etc. anyway, this is a long thread thank u for coming to my ted talk
