/4 I believe it’s important to speak up. As a person of privilege, I don’t have the same experiences that many of my fellow Americans have had, or still have. The hurt, anger, fear, and hopelessness that so many African Americans are feeling right now just breaks my heart.
/4 What has happened — and still happening — is beyond outrageous. It must stop. We must do better. We must support one another. We must be better in tune with one another, and be stronger advocates especially with those that need our help. How we can help is by speaking up.
/4 So, I’m speaking up. As someone who is an imperfect ally to people of color striving to be better. As a leader who is PROUD to lead one of the largest, most diverse workforces in America. As someone who genuinely cares about the feelings — and struggles — of minorities.
/4 Let’s come together, support one another, and do our part to insist on changes that promote the right to live. I’m going to do more to be an ally to the black community — and to all minorities. I hope that countless other allies join me to help in any and every way possible.
And I’m especially grateful to a special leader who candidly talked to me about this tonight and helped me better understand the impact of these recent events to the black community. She knows who she is — I’ll never forget this conversation for the rest of my days. #SpeakUp
