I cannot believe the clip I’ve just seen from @BritishMuslimTV. Swearing and talking about women who you work with as sexual and subservient objects in between takes of trying to fundraise for charity?
This is exactly the type of filthy, misogynistic behaviour that Muslim women try to shed light on all the time. It is IGNORED and thrown back in our faces by communities of men who do not want to address the problem, and instead facilitate it on platforms like this.
It’s sickening. This is what happens when Muslim women are not taken seriously and are not given spaces or positions of power within these platforms. It allows for this kind of rape culture — because that is exactly what it is — to continue to fester.
Their brazen nature and confidence in discussing such vulgar things paints a pretty good picture of how comfortable these men were amongst their peers who were in the room with them, and it shows how acceptable it is to speak about women in such a derogatory manner in that space.
