Let me save you a read. Here are the examples they provided on the colorism they experienced. I broke it down in the thread below. https://twitter.com/lovebscott/status/1265799328888532992
Above we see them discuss being bullied for being lightskin, featurism, & Gam actually speaking to the tangible privilege being light skin gives you.
Photo 1: Being bullied for being a hi yellow; There is no structural oppression or societal ramifications therefor it's not colourism. Being made fun of for being lightskin does not make you oppressed, while actual colourism leads to experiencing systems of oppression.
Photo 2 & 3: Jada is describing featurism, which refers to discrimination based on facial features as it pertains to hair texture, width of nose, etc & is directly informed by white eurocentric standards of beauty. The example of Willow is also describing featurism.
Photo 4: Gam actively acknowledges how lightskin privilege works which counters the idea that lightskins experience colourism. However, lemme correct her assertion it was only back in the day. Light skin will always be placed above darkskin on a societal & systematic level.
Edit: my point for 2 & 3 is that lightskins can experience featurism & texturism (wrt hair type), without it being an example of colorism. On the flip, this means darkskin people can experience featurism too, on top of colorism. That's the difference!
