here& #39;s the facts. the police do not keep people safe, and they are not meant to. as an institution, they are designed to attract power hungry white men for the goal of enforcing oppressive structures.
if the police were meant to keep communities safe, they would work to protect the homeless and house them rather than persecute them for being homeless; the homeless are a part of the community they are meant to protect.
if the police were meant to keep people safe, there would be stringest measures ensuring people do not get in to the force with the goal of controlling others. it& #39;s been shown time and time again that controlling, abusive people flock to positions of power. the police do not
have proper protections againdt those people, because the police is vastly, vastly made up of that group.
if the police had any actual supervision, then everything would have stopped the moment a study came out revealing that 40% of police officers /admit/ to domestic violence. instead, like the violence itself, it is swept under the rug, because the system is designed for that.
if the police had any intent to protect people, they would keep track of the number of people killed by the police. they track bullets fired, rhey track officers shot, but they do not track bullets fired at civilians unless it results in a mediawide atrocity in which it& #39;s still
claimed to be an accident, even when it is 107 bullets, and two women are wounded. they are not charged, because there is no penalty for cops who are bad at protecting people, because that does not make them a bad cop; it makes them an average cop.
if the police served their communities, they would allow themselves to be held accountable by the people they are meant to serve. instead, the system is set up for them to be able to hide problems in house and permit abusers and murderers to stay on the job or get paid leave.
if the police were meant to help people, they would not gleefully take advantage of prostituted women, raping them then arresting them, because it& #39;s not illegal for cops to have sex with prostituted women, but it pays their bills to arrest the women they just took advantage of.
if the police were meant to protect people, they would not be killing Black women and men ruthlessly, allow their racist bretheren to flourish within their ranks, they would not pretend that the nationwide racially motivated swath of police brutality doesn& #39;t exist.
if the police were meant to understand the community they are meant to protect, they would take criticism and take action to change themselves and their broken system, not trend alllivəsmatter and bluelivəsmatter, gleefully ignoring how they have been documented over and over
murdering Black women and men in cold blood.
if there were truly good police officers, they would speak out against the corruption of their fellow officers and the system regardless of if it cost them a job, because they wouldnt be able to stand working alongside murderers, rapists, and abusers.
if cops were meant to protect everyone, there wouldn& #39;t be a ridiculously disproportionate rate of missing and murdered indigenous women. there would not be an entire movement dedicated to trying to get them to understand that #BlackLivesMatter

if the way the police enforce law was meant to help people, they would not change yellow light times to trick people into tickets, attempt to get people to implicate themselves, intimidate citizens into giving up their rights as stated in the constitution, and this would not be
considered a routine, fundamental aspect of how they do their jobs. there would be effort put into building growth and health for people and the community, not punishment to hit quotas and fill prisons.
if the defenders of the people that make up the police have an issue with anything said here, then they are unwilling to face the cold, hard facts. the police are corrupt. there are not good cops, not even your dad or uncle.
