In some moments, Are also privileged by White people. I battle with the concept of model minority because in some cases I do believe it’s very real, but not for the reasons that we think. We let white folk tokenize us for “being hard workers” or “being good at math” whatever BS
They want to feed Us just so we can feel validated by them. And in doing so, we pit ourselves against Black/Hispanic/Indigenous people who could suffered from the same hands. I say “we” in referring the race as whole, not my or your specific individual actions. It disgusts me how
white people are still able to have this grip on us so we don’t experience any sense of solidarity. This is a product of the ruling white elite, and it trickles down to the poorest communities of color.
It takes little to no effort to understand you privilege as a non Black person of color. Especially if you are Asian (East/SE/brown). It takes a lot to learn how to support Black people and their struggle. We need to unlearn these practices that reinforce colonial domination and
Support Black people without a question. I just felt the need to say something as an indian person. Although I much rather amplify Black voices instead.
