Dear fellow white people who are outraged about the recent acts of anti-Black racism that have caught public attention, just remember that all your outrage and hashtags do not matter if you are not finding ways to pay reparations and engage in anti-racist organizing
This tweet is not meant to discourage anyone from speaking out, or to shame anyone, but rather to encourage you to take the steps to materially contribute to the dismantling of white supremacy.
All the indignant tweets in the world is not going to end institutional racism or racism grounded in explicit bigotry. Outraged bystanders need to become allies, and allies need to become accomplices.
If you don't know where to start as far as getting involved in anti-racist organizing, feel free to reach out to me; I've been involved in anti-racist organizing under the direction of Black leadership for over five years, so i may have some relevant tips or advice for you.
What you should NOT do is pester Black people, especially random Black people on the internet that you dont personally know, with questions like "what can i as a white person do to stop racism?".
It is not the responsibility of Black people to educate white people about a problem that white people created themselves, not to mention the solution to that problem.
