an important thread about firearm ownership in the US:
america actually terrifies me. the small ams survey stated that US civilians alone account for 393 million (about 46 percent) of the worldwide total of civilian held firearms. this amounts to 120.5 firearms for every 100 residents. thats fucking terrifying +
ban guns. fuck tighter control. ban guns and imprison those who dont give them up. the uk used to have guns, there was one school shooting and guns were banned. guess what? there hasnt been one school shooting since +
police brutality is also obviously linked to the allowance of guns. no guns in the regular population = regular police dont have to carry guns, only special units. that therefore equals less innocent deaths taken by gun violence by the police and the public +
banning guns also outlaws the need to panic buy guns. people who dont even like guns may buy them due to panic buying, therefore adding to the problem. eradicating gun usage eisily takes away that problem
"but i keep my gun locked up and secure, its only for personal protection"

this is such a stupid argument as if its locked up so well, if somebody breaks into your house ypu will not have time to get it from a secure place
"but its my right"

if you support guns, you support murder, fuck you. youre sick and need mental health. you are fucking disgusting. school children have to endure active shooting drills just so you can enjoy your "right"
"but its for personal protection just incase somebody else has a gun"

thats complete bullshit. In 2010 there were 230 “justifiable homicides” in which a private citizen used a firearm to kill a felon, compared to 8,275 criminal gun homicides +
of the 29,618,300 violent crimes committed between 2007 and 2011, 0.79% of victims protected themselves with a threat of use or use of a firearm, the least-employed protective behavior +
of the 84,495,500 property crimes committed between 2007 and 2011, 0.12% of victims protected themselves with a threat of use or use of a firearm

so, in reality, people dont even really ise firearms to protect themselves
there were 572,537 total gun deaths between 1999 and 2016.

firearms were the second leading cause of deaths for children, responsible for 15% of child deaths compared to 20% in motor vehicle crashes. thats sick. nobody should be killed by firearms, especially children
more than 100,000 people are shot each year in the US

the FBI found that in 2013 arguments (such as romantic triangles, brawls fueled by alcohol or drugs, and arguments over money) resulted in 1,962 gun deaths (59.9% of the total) do you think those gun deaths were justifiable?
MORE WOMEN DURING THE IRAQ WAR WERE KILLED BY AN INTIMATE PARNTER WITH A GUN THAN THE TROOPS DURING THE INVASION

a 2003 study of 23 populous high-income countries found that 86% of women killed by firearms were in the US

thats sick
