America doesn’t have a justice system. It has a racist system. It has a system that prizes certain groups - white people (including QUEER white people, we’re not excluded) - while treating others as subhuman. Being Black is not a crime. The system that lets white cops murder is.
But it isn’t just cops. It’s assholes who call the police any time Black people and POC decide to:

It’s in the editorials that rush to tell us that men like Ahmaud Arbery were “turning their lives around”
when what they really mean is “they weren’t like OTHER Black people,” as if they otherwise deserved to die. As if, had Arbery made different decisions or maybe one day fucking frowned, he wouldn’t be worthy of life.
I don’t have a nice conclusion to this thread because there isn’t one. I’m not going to pretend that this tweet will magically solve this country’s systemic racism. But I’m furious. And if you aren’t, it’s high time you start.
