They’ve destroyed the esteem, hopes, and dreams of generations of children

I’m fortunate my mama always had my back. Always. She never took the teachers side against me. She had enough and put me into a private school where majority of teachers were PoC.

My first grade teacher Mrs. Goldberg told me I had “too much mouth” and called me a “know it all” because I always got the answers right and was opinionated. I’m 41 and remember it as clear as day. That’s the impact of that shit.
