The paper states lacks of reproducibility of certain neural #recsys approaches, but all the methods tested were using only (user,item,feedback) data, no images, no text. It makes little sense because most AI avances in the latest years have been in computer vision and NLP [next]
If you seriously check the literature on #recsys you will notice big progress thanks to AI, and not only deep learning: RL, unsupervised learning, generative methods, federated learning.. [next]
