Confronting racism can be hard, because for many of my white brothers & sisters the fight starts in your homes, at your dinner tables when your family members say racist things

Some of you are going to have to fight it by going in your closet & taking down that confederate flag.
That flag that has been hanging there since you were a child. That flag that was probably given to you by a family member you love and respect. We don’t want to talk about that part. Many can’t speak out against what they secretly condone. Many don’t wanna dig up the DEEP roots.
Some of you are going to have to fight racism by unfriending Uncle ___ & Aunt ____. Some of you are going to have to fight racism by sitting down with your parents & having that HARD conversation. Telling them that when they told you to beware of “those” people it planted a seed.
Some are going to have to fight racism, by no longer going to some family functions because the racism is so ingrained. Some are going to have to fight it by buying BOOKS & dismantling it in your mind. It’s easy to post, but doing the work is the HARD part.
