wait but... pac-man world and mario 64 are barely alike...
...no, maybe they wanted a game that would actually be playable by most people 20 years later and not constantly be brought up in rants about "games that suck 20 years later because they aged badly" so they basically merged 2d level design philosophy with a 3d space.
by this logic, sonic stole being a ball from pac-man and mario stole the side-scrolling platformer genre from pac-land. why aren't you lashing out at them for so flagrantly *STEALING* from pac-man, who mind you has filed a patent is the only one who can ever use those concepts??
wouldn't just a maze in the dead center of an otherwise regular platforming section just completely ruin the flow of the game? even if you wanted pac-man to be nothing more than "that maze game..." come on.
also what's wrong with weaponizing pac-dots? that's actually pretty cool!
there he goes again with "only THIS game is allowed to have levels with lava, everything else is ripping it off!"
also crappy music?? did we hear the same music because pac-man world has some pretty damn good and catchy tracks, only hindered on gba due to being sampled from psx.
"i want pac-man games to be as great as they should be..." but only have him locked up in a maze for all eternity and just don't let him evolve at all past being "that maze game," gotcha.
why be generic and lazy by actually experimenting with your flagship character when... maze!
gee that's funny! the world made you feel is exactly how this review made me feel in return! i didn't think it was possible to find every last word in a review just... so wrong, but here it was.

do i want to know how he felt about stuff like adventures in time and maze madness?
i'm done trashing on this review, i just really needed to get this off my chest man.
