Exposing ronaldo as a fraud and him relying on teammates/opponents' hard luck to save his blushes and hand him glory.

(THREAD)
I'll be talking about his big games most notably the champions league finals/euro final that he played. In particular, crucial moments where if his teammates didn't cover up for his poor performances the outcome would've been very different, thus effecting his legacy.
Firstly, let's talk about the 07/08 UCL semi between barca and utd. In the first leg at camp nou he failed to convert from the penalty spot to give utd a crucial way goal. At old trafford, he was overshadowed by lionel messi (not the last time) and ran hard but with not much...
end product in terms of chances created/key passes. Utd had to rely on a moment of sheer brilliance from Paul Scholes to get them to the final in a very fine game.
Now onto the 2008 Champions league final, now let's give ronaldo his props here, he scored a fine header and created a lot of chances and opened up Chelsea's solid defence through his skills and trickery. However, this is one of the moments where Ronaldo needed fortune and...
tough luck from the opponent. Ronaldo was the 3rd penalty taker in the shootout and all of them were scored up to it, and until the last kick...where john terry needed to score to crown chelsea champions. We all know what proceeded, Terry slipped and this was a HUGE relief...
for ronaldo to the extent that he stated, "It's one of the worst days of my life" ronaldo knew that his image and utd legacy was at stake here, especially if he was the only one who missed the penalty in the whole shootout. That was also the only CL he won at utd not to forget.
We move onto the 2008/09 UCL Final, but i have to say that Ronaldo's performance in the semi final and against porto was iconic and really helped utd get to the to the final... but only need to be overshadowed by messi and co. That was the the first UCL final where ronaldo was...
poor and very ineffective. He tried to take too much on his own by shooting aimlessly from range instead of passing to a player who was in space on the wings. He even started to lose it after messi's header and even barged puyol when the ball went out of play.
We move into his madrid days and in the el clasico in 2014 at the bernabeu. Barca won 4-3 and ronaldo didn't have much impact apart from scoring a penalty. Neverthless, madrid went on to lose, if they won they would've had the la liga title on goal difference and a treble
In the UCL final 2014 madrid were 1-0 down and a 12 year wait for la decima was on the line, against their city rivals. Ronaldo was almost anonymous (Match rating 6) and left bale and di maria to pull the strings. Ramos came in clutch with a header in stoppage time to save...
Ronaldo and madrid. In extra time atletico collapsed and were worn down and bale and marcelo scored to make it 3-1. In the last minute of extra time ronaldo scored the least meaningful penalty and shamelessly took his shirt off like he won the game by himself. The real heroes...
In the 2015 UCL semi final 2nd leg real played against juve. Juve won the 1st leg 2-1 but madrid were still favourites to qualify and set up a UCL final clasico since they only need a 1-0 win. Yet ronaldo did open the scoring via penalty (sigh) juve equalised through morata...
Ronaldo and co struggled to break down the juve defence and and a golden chance to win 2 in a row and Ronaldo to get revenge on messi blown
Madrid made a UCL final return against their city rivals again. This time madrid led through a controversial goal through Atletico's REAL nightmare (Ramos). Madrid were in control in the 1st half but were pinned down in the 2nd half and ronaldo was too busy hiding in stead of...
killing the game. The threat on the counter was bale once again who had a shot cleared off the line late in the 2nd half. Ronaldo didn't make any difference in extra time, waited and waited instead of taking his penalty first so he can grab all the headlines, fame and attention.
In euro 2016 he carried portugal to the knockouts but only through a recent rule change which allowed a team who finished 3rd into the knockouts. Quaresma, an unsung hero scored late in extra time to get them past croatia, renato sanches equalised against poland, they went...
through on pens to the Semis where Ronaldo's header and deflected shot got them to the final (only good performance by cr7 in the knockouts). Ronaldo was injured early and was hobbled of the pitch in tears. Rui patricio and pepe had the games of their careers in that...
game yet ronaldo takes a lot of the glory and credit. Him not lasting the full game and eder scoring the winner meaning that his only meaningful intl. trophy is a tainted one.
In the 2018 UCL semi against munich he contributed almost nothing in both legs and real had to rely on a jammy benzema goal via an ulreich blunder to get them to the final. Surely ronaldo did his job in the final against liverpool...?,
Nope. Ronaldo was so useless that he was arguably the worst player on the pitch joint with Karius. Bale was the unsung hero for madrid again. Scoring an overhead kick to give them the lead and killing the game off to give them 3 in a row. So that means that cr7s last game...
For real and utd were both very mediocre performances only difference was that bale stepped up when ronaldo was struggling, nobody did that at utd for ronaldo.
There's so many more that I could include that would take me too long to do:
Ronaldo vs Chelsea FA cup Final (2007)
Ronaldo vs Lyon UCL (2010)
Ronaldo vs group stage WC (2014)
Ronaldo vs Barca UCL (2011)
Ronaldo vs dortmund UCL 2nd Leg (2013)
Ronaldo vs Netherlands (2019)
We can see that ronaldo could've easily only had 1 or 2 CLs and no international trophies. That's the only thing that helps him, his achievements. Yet he didn't even win them all outright. Nobody can deny his legacy and greatness, but people need to stop giving him all the credit
