if you need money more than you need a byline, consider copywriting.
legit brands who hire copywriters have advertising/marketing budgets and (in my experience) pay fairly and on time.

but there are incredible freelance writers out there struggling to get by because the media industry is broken.
find a way to get paid somewhere else if you have to. you deserve it.
