branding on ac twitter: a thread
so basically, branding is something companies/people do to make an impression. it’s like specifically tailoring products and ads to ingrain in the public a specific opinion about the company.
it’s like how when someone says ‘apple’ in terms of the company, you think of sleek design, high quality, innovative technology, etc. it’s also really common on social media, where celebrities use it to build their ‘brand’. so why does this matter to ac twitter?
let’s use my friend @limbergcrossing as an example. i would rate em as a moderately large acc for ac twitter - 2.5k followers. from a look at her @, nickname, and banner, em also has something very distinctive about her - a love for limberg.
in fact, it’s such an iconic part of her personality and account that people in the community know her for this love of limberg. so in this case, em’s limberg obsession could be described as her brand - the way she makes herself memorable and interesting. https://twitter.com/honeydewramen/status/1265393439782338560
similarly, accounts like @honeyyycrossing use the popular cottagecore aesthetic to make their account iconic - honey, with ~10k followers, is wildly successful and a big ‘inspiration account’ on ac twitter.
with honey, her cottagecore island is her brand - her layout is infused with mushrooms and leaves, and her island is so popular that she made an island tour video about it which has been super successful!
so part of the way accounts like em’s and honey’s grow and become so successful are by cultivating a brand and making themselves memorable/interesting to other users. of course, it doesn’t hurt that they’re both super awesome people, which is ultimately the most important thing!
just as a note, this wasn’t meant to be a derogatory thread in any way - looking at these psychological branding techniques and such is just really interesting for me!
