I feel like I should ignore it but it bothers me to no end that someone in some fandom is trying to argue that Augst D having a scar over his eye denotes or glorifies abuse.

And yes, it goes back to the BlackPink pics but there are some major differences.
I love BlackPink but that shoot was disturbing. Having soft lighting with feminine clothing and aesthetics sets a submissive tone. Which, there is nothing wrong with that. However, coupling that with makeup that features bruises and scars is disturbing.
YG and BlackPink might have wanted that to be the connotation but at the end of the day, you cannot ignore the history of abuse against women and the gender norms of expecting women to be soft. That context plays a part in perception whether they want it to or not.
Meanwhile, in Daechwita and even his first mixtape, Augst D has power. He has an aggression that is seen as traditionally male - ALSO NOT A BAD THING. That means it is implied he is a participant in the violence, he is not a victim. That is the difference.
This thread was long and I could probably write a freaking essay on it but I won't.
