A lot of VA’s (myself included) have to juggle voice acting with school, irl jobs, and just busy schedules and lives in general. Sometimes we’re not able to audition the day of or even the day after a casting call is released. So, when a project we planned on auditioning for...
...gets cast early, that just sucks. It’s unfair to the voice actor because you didn’t abide by YOUR deadline. Even if you think you found the "perfect voice" for your character, DON’T CAST ON THE SPOT. Wait until you’ve received more auditions past your set deadline.
Who knows? You might receive an even better audition by then. I know so many voice actors who got cast from auditions they sent less than AN HOUR before the deadline. Also, if you think people who auditioned for your project early will lose interest if you cast them after your...
...deadline, THEY WON& #39;T. They auditioned for YOUR project. That means they’re committed to it if they get cast.
We record auditions, send them, and then forget them. Sometimes we book stuff and that’s great, sometimes we don’t and we move on.
