I see MSNBC pundits are talking about the Cassandra Effect in discussing those who warned about the pandemic before it happened, but were ignored.

Interesting bit about the myth of Cassandra - she's the perfect icon for our time in more ways than one...

Cassandra is a seer in Greek mythology. She was given the gift of prophecy by the god Apollo, who admired her. However, when she spurned his sexual advances, he revenged himself by ordaining that her prophecies, though accurate, would never be believed.

Cassandra predicted the fall of Troy & tried desperately to warn Trojans ahead of time in order to prevent the tragedy. They ignored her, perceiving only a madwoman, and the city was utterly destroyed.

She later foresaw her own murder, yet knew no one would believe her & stop it

She represents not only the curse of being victimized, doubted & silenced - an ancient #MeToo story. She is all of us now.

We are all Cassandras, trying desperately to warn our countrymen about the rise of a dangerous demagogue – a corrupt, narcissistic & uncontrollable tyrant.

Many of us can perceive this terrible & very possible future, but the mainstream media & fellow Americans ignore us, believe we are overreacting. We hope they will listen before our nation falls.
