, here’s a thread on important POC musicians in classic rock:

[disclaimer] some of these are not classic rock e.g. jazz/swing, but i still included them as they were influential to rock music and artists.
Little Richard was an American singer, songwriter, and musician. An influential figure in popular music and culture for seven decades, he was nicknamed "The Innovator", "The Originator", and "The Architect of Rock and Roll".
Nat King Cole was an American singer and jazz pianist. He recorded over one hundred songs that became hits on the pop charts. His trio was the model for small jazz ensembles that followed. Cole also acted in films and on television and performed on Broadway.
Louis Armstrong nicknamed "Satchmo", "Satch", and "Pops", was an American trumpeter, composer, vocalist, and actor who was among the most influential figures in jazz. His career spanned five decades, from the 1920s to the 1960s, and different eras in the history of jazz.
Jimi Hendrix was an American rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Although his mainstream career lasted only four years, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential guitarists in history and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century.
Tina Turner is an American-born Swiss singer and actress. Turner rose to prominence as part of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue before launching a successful career as a solo performer.
Prince (Rogers Nelson) was an American singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, dancer, actor, and filmmaker.
Fats Domino was an American pianist and singer-songwriter. One of the pioneers of rock and roll music, Domino sold more than 65 million records. His humility and shyness may be one reason his contribution to the genre has been overlooked.
Lajon Witherspoon is an American musician best known as the lead vocalist for the Atlanta-based alternative metal band Sevendust. Members from bands such as Staind, Seether, Alter Bridge, and Diecast have listed Witherspoon and Sevendust as musical influences.
POC GIRL GROUPS:
Martha and the Vandellas were an American all-female vocal group formed in 1957. The group achieved fame in the 1960s with Motown.
The Ronettes were an American girl group from New York City. One of the most popular groups of the 1960s, they placed nine songs on the Billboard Hot 100, five of which became Top 40 hits.
The Blossoms are an American girl-group that originated from California. During their height of success in the 1960s, the group's lineup most famously consisted of Darlene Love, Fanita James, and Jean King.
Lovelites were an American vocal group, based in Chicago, originally composed of the sisters Patti Hamilton and Rozena Petty plus their friend, Barbara Peterman. In 1967, the trio recorded for the local Chicago record label, Bandera Records. In 1968, Peterman left the group.
The Ikettes were a trio of female backing vocalists for the Ike & Tina Turner Revue. Despite their origins, the Ikettes became successful artists in their own right. In the 1960s they had hits such as "I'm Blue" and "Peaches 'N' Cream."
