A few important points on the Taliban and the peace process in Afghanistan:

1) Its been fascinating watching western raised liberal Afghans in the west and Afghanistan suddenly change their rhetoric on the Taliban, when none of them would accept their families to live under...
the ideology of extreme religious and political repression.
2) One can engage and accept a peace process with the Taliban without accepting and normalizing their ideology and worldview towards women, minorities and modernity.
3) The peace process is about the reduction of....
Violence but also the acceptance of a multicultural Afghanistan that will not be a safe haven for violent extremist worldviews which seek to implement draconian medieval “Islamic” laws.
4) There must be a movement of Afghans and Muslims worldwide who push back against....
the idea that the Taliban represent Islam. As an Afghan American, I love my faith and I know that the Islam of the Taliban is not the Islam of all Afghans, it is foreign to many Afghans.
5) There is nothing Islamic about an “Emirate”. It is not mentioned in any Quranic verse....
any tradition of the Prophet Muhammad (p) nor historical Muslim traditions. It is a very recent historical innovation of political movements.
6) Afghanistan has a rich history of Islamic learning and culture. Afghans know Islam, they do not need a movement to teach them Islam.
