...and if that story would have gotten big, it could’ve shifted the convo of this is a “Black people issue” to a “civilian issue” which would inevitably cause the country at large (maybe) to raise up.

(Reminding me of MLK being silenced once he started bridging w: poor whites)
When I was working at Weeksville, an artist installed a piece with names of Black and Latino people killed by police.

For my own homework, I stumbled upon a site that listed every person killed that year.

Y’all, it was so many white names on that list, SO MANY!
I’m no conspiracy theorist, but I swear they don’t report the white folks being killed by cops to create the “just a Black issue” narrative and keep poor whites in their eternally docile state.

Which in turn allows police in the South and Midwest to kill white people IN PEACE.
In 2017, 48% of the ppl killed by police were white, 27% Black.

Where Black people lead in the numbers is ‘unarmed and not attacking’ which was 34% to white’s 32%.

In 2019, Black people made up 24% of killings + whites still making up nearly 50%. https://mappingpoliceviolence.org
And for the sake of clarifying bc you know how folk can manipulate a tweet...

White people make up about half of the police killings.

However, Black people are more likely to be killed by police because with our population being about 13%, we make up 25% of killings.
