blue lives do not matter. there is no such thing as a “blue life”. equating the lives of cops to the lives of black people is racist and extremely dangerous. cops can go home, take off their badge, and stop being cops. black people cannot stop being black. wherever they go, they+
are racially profiled and immediately a target for hate crimes and violence. when a cop joins a police force, they are acknowledging the dangers that come with the job. black people have no choice but to face the dangers of being black in this country. +
in addition, the criminal justice and mass incarceration system is set up in a way that the families of those unjustly killed by police cannot hold the murders of their children, brothers, sisters, parents, and friends accountable. suing a cop is extremely hard in this country+
police protect their own. they should be holding their colleagues accountable, but more often than not take any actions necessary to free other cops from blame. acknowledge your privilege. do something for those who are in danger just by being black. remember their names. #acab
