as the climate warms we’re seeing lyme spread out of the northeast us at alarming rates. up until last year, the cdc said about 30,000 people got sick from lyme every year.

they’ve now amended that to 200,000.
lyme-literate doctors estimate yearly infection to be closer to 500,000.

the cdc does not recognize lyme as a chronic illness despite the wait-lists for lyme specialists being months—or even a year—long bc so many people are sick. & this treatment is not covered.
when you get home from being in the woods, check yourself thoroughly. if you find a tick, do not assume you’ll get a rash as a sign of infection—many don’t. kill the tick & send it into a lab for testing. you do not want this shit. it is not worth it. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/what-lyme-disease-feels-like_b_7539130
there needs to be more funding, research, & care for lyme patients on a state, local, and federal level. as more people get sick, we’re all going to have to get involved.
