(1) Everyone deserves the right to enjoy the outdoors w/o fear. From the tragic killing of Ahmaud Arbery to the hate directed at Christian Cooper, who was birding in Central Park, the outdoors are not a safe space for countless black people, people of color and Indigenous peoples
(2) It’s time to take a stand. A future where people and nature thrive together is only possible if we welcome, respect, support & value all people. Nature offers benefits for each of us, and everyone deserves to enjoy the natural world without fear or racism.
(3) The well-being of nature and people cannot be separated, and that conservation is inextricably connected to racial equity and social justice.
(4) At @conserve_wa, we aspire to diminish racism and bias while growing diversity and inclusion in order to safeguard the future of our planet. This is the right thing for people and for nature.
