If yall were this committed to sparing human lives, a lot more people would be committed anti-imperialists. Ask yourself why your first question about abolition is "what about the murderers" but you dont consider vets to be murderers. That alone should show you
that there are certain people our society views as humans, and those people's lives are worth protecting, and there are people in our society that we do not view as human, and those lives are expendable. And also, people say "what about the rapists" but have nothing to say
about the sexual violence that takes place at the hands of the military, police, or in jail. We don't live in this mythical world yall where "good" people do not harm, and they deserve to be free and "bad" people harm, and they get sent away. That isn't how the world works and
the sooner we all give up this lie the better world we will be able to build. My roots in organizing are not in abolition. I started working around "anti-police brutality." What I considered a win when I started 6 years ago or even four years ago has transformed because
1. I became a survivor but 2. I put in the work to research and learn more about things that make me feel uncomfortable. It's not enough to think oh it will never happen, and then not do anything.
It really isnt. That isnt how this work. If you value Black lives, you are able to name the PIC as inherently anti Black, and you are also able to name that this shit cant be reformed.
