recent events are just highlighting the way white people just blatantly ignore racism. i haven’t seen a SINGLE white person on the tl talking about that video of a black man being killed by cops. the only people i saw tweet about this were poc

so many just sweep this issue under the rug because apparently it upsets them or makes them uncomfortable but if the very notion of racism makes you feel uneasy can you fucking imagine what it’s like for poc to go through this every day??

the BARE minimum a white person can do is spread awareness. i feel very corny saying all this and i’m absolutely not the spokesperson for this but it all just makes me so genuinely mad. not being racist is absolutely not enough everyone needs to be an ally and listen to poc

talking about racism and white supremacy can be daunting and hard because you have empathy if you’re a decent human being. but opting out of a conversation because of it is the opposite of empathy. empathetic behavior is listening, not talking over poc, doing your best to help
