i *will* say that ferguson/mike brown was a turning point for the nation, and a lot of you were saying very similar things during that era.

but this being literally the day after is so unsettling and morbid and heart wrenching.
i will *also* say that the “he was a teenager” thing just doesn’t work. i had just turned 18 a month before mike brown was murdered. that very week, i went to my very first protest. i was not on twitter tweeting... this.
(which is not to say that we all have the same political awakening, but is to say that there was enough material out there to have been read, and before i picked up a book my rage led me to do something because i knew it was wrong—even if i didn’t have language for why)
