Glad to hear @christineeboyle and @PtFry argue against an amendment to make #covidstreets changes in Vancouver temporary.

Christine reminds us how much priority was already allocated to private cars pre-pandemic; bad for public health and equity.

Be aware that @CllrHardwick and @MelissaDeGenova were the only #VanCityCouncil members that voted to require staff work on safe road reallocations be temporary.

#vanpoli
Too many members on #VanCityCouncil seem uniquely dedicated to preventing things from happening.

Come on, @MelissaDeGenova, you’re wasting everybody’s time again. The only reason we’re here today is your poor charging of this motion two weeks ago. Please stop this. #vanpoli
This motion, to expedite staff work to re-allocate roads for safe physical distancing, was supposed to be voted on two weeks ago. @MelissaDeGenova, as chair, failed to extend the meeting or complete the agenda on time.
Now, MDG is repeatedly asking staff to answer questions they’ve already answered about parking and jurisdiction. Doing her best to delay this motion and grandstand for cheap car storage over people.

It’s so frustrating. And she abstains on all these votes.
There is so much work to do. We need people on Council who want to do the work and keep people safe — not find ways to delay and avoid responsibility during a global public health crisis.

Thanks to the Councillors doing their jobs today.
