oh and btw United fans will regularly tell you that this team (the then-running 3-time PL champions, and the defending CL champions) was the best PL team ever.

But now suddenly they are 'LeBron's Cavs'.

I keep saying, Ronaldo has single-handedly ruined football discourse and made casual fans unable to comprehend and reason elementary things.

And mainstream football media is afraid to be objective about him, because it's bad for PR and bad for readership on their websites.

There's no money in straight up saying what's obvious. There's money in generating controversy.

So everyday there will be the same rehashed polls and tweets.

Every year there's a new consolation award invented to mollify him, or some instance of twisting the rules, extending voting windows to favor him, changing formations so he can be in the team of the year ahead of more deserving names........

The guy is clearly the second best player of his era and probably top 5 all time.

Why there is this compulsion to put him ahead of players that are clearly better (in any given season, or over his career), i will never understand.

He hasn't been top 10 in the world for quite some time now. But there is no way he won't make the top 5 or even the podium for all the major awards this year.
