Let's all thank @BarackObama for forging the path with private enterprise for NASA's orbital launches. Sadly the Republicans hated it at the time because it was Obama. Today Trump will claim victory.

To clarify, the space shuttle retirement was planned before Obama became president, he wisely moved forward. As a Republican, I was stunned at Republican criticism. It was a smart private sector focused plan that would end cost overruns of government programs like the shuttle. It wasn't about the plan, it was Obama and a now common illogical type of national pride. I posted this 2012.

The point of this thread is to say that intelligence and planning matters for results in the long term. And it is in the long term big picture items that national policy can really shine. Currently we are run by the ultimate feelings focused NOW guy. There is no foresight.
