this is from my a fic I already finished but for #wipwednesday I thought I'd share a lil bit about how I write my first drafts!! Here's my notebook with the beginnings of a few scenes (these are the neater pages for the Aesthetic but it can get reaaaally messy in here 🤧)
for me, it's a lot easier to get the big scenes out on paper before i start typing! very rarely do my stories have a plot (lmao), so my notebook is mostly a bunch of random scenes that i know i want to string together, but don't quite know how.
it all kinda comes together when i type things up! this part takes the longest b/c I do a little bit of everything: adding in new bits, trimming things down, editing some for clarity, moving things around, and the most difficult thing: reading my own gd handwriting lmao
once that is done, then i step back for awhile (depending on if it's a fic for fun or something for deadline, and can last anywhere from a day to a week), and let myself do something else. that way when i come back, i can look at it with a pair of fresh eyes!
then i'll do one more read-through out loud, to check for clarity, and then yeet it into the void of the internet. (this is also why it takes me like...forever to finish things lol bc this can take a longass time). but yeah! end of thread <3
