When will they hear our cries? When will they realize they’re hurting us? We are also a part of the human race, and for so long we’ve been looked down upon, treated less than. You have to see us as an equal. This is so sad and tragic.
What made my blood boil is that the police officer had his knee on the guy’s neck with his hands in his pocket. If you feel there’s a threat, there’s no way you’re putting your hands in your pocket. The man is handcuffed, lying flat on the ground.
Justice can’t be served until somebody is incarcerated. Somebody needs to pay a penalty for taking this man’s life. It breaks my heart that we have to talk about this in America in 2020. They keep saying it’s going to change. As James Baldwin said: How much more time do you need?
George Floyd is telling them “I can’t breathe. My stomach hurt. You’re going to kill me.” He’s pleading for his life and the officer is looking in the camera with his hands in his pocket unconcerned. It’s heartbreaking. We just watched a man die on live TV.
There are a lot of great white men and women in America, but I’m talking to the athletic community. We need their voices on this one. We need them to say “This is enough.” Tom Brady, JJ Watt, and Aaron Rodgers, I need your voices. I need them to get on board like Chris Long.
Think about what hasn’t been captured on camera over the last 100 to 200 years. And they still do it because there are no consequences. There has to be consequences that come with these actions in order for it to stop and change.
