6. Queen Lozikeyi is the most celebrated Ndebele queen. She led the Anglo-Ndebele war of 1896. She was also in charge of the peace negotiations & settlement talks with the British after the war to prevent further blood shed.
7. In 2014 Queen Lozikeyi was featured in the exhibition of Bodleian Library in central Oxford in recognition of her towering & steadfast leadership in a male dominated world.
8. The Zimbabwe People’s Revolutionary Army (ZIPRA) recognised Queen Lozikeyi as the Foremother of the struggle. Before waging the liberation war, they buried two bullets in her grave.
9. Dr. Yvonne Vera described Queen Lozikeyi as "... a conspicuous & commanding figure. A big, bold and beautiful woman of ample proportions & clearly the leading spirit among the Ndebele queens. With quick intelligence & ready wit, she was also remarkable among Ndebele women."
10. A biography of Queen Lozikeyi written by Marieke Farber Clarke & Phathisa Nyathi is highly recommended. She is described as "... very dangerous & intriguing woman."
11. At least now you now why Bulawayo is also called "... komfaz' utshay' indoda". (... where a woman beats a man") Basop!
