HOMOSEXUALITY & HINDUISM!
(Purely based on my understanding of scriptures)

In short :

Does Hinduism oppose homosexuality? NO

Is Hinduism pro gay/lesbisn relationships?
NO

If you want to know stand of Sanatan Dharma on any topic, you should see it with respect to "main goal of life".

The real and ultimate goal of life is to attain "MOKSHA"

But there are 6 enemies (shadripu) of human mind which are enemy in path of salvation, which are :

Almost every hindu scripture mentions them and call them enemy/hurdles.

And same sex relationships are pro kama that's why they should be avoided but desires (kama) are not crime as well. Hinduism is against any kind of activity which promotes kama be it.....

Masturbation, sodogamy etc.

Basically these things should be avoided as they falls under kama category but they aren't some sort of big crime that you start jailing people, calling them mentally ill or worse murdering them.

Remember that, HOMOSEXUALITY IS NATURAL SO IS GREED

That's why there are some mild punishments in some scriptures for these acts. Like in arthshashatra and and manusmriti(just simple bath) etc.

Now one may ask even having sex falls under kama then one shouldn't reproduce children too?

As per my understanding a soul can attain moksha only in human body and "new born" serves as channel of transfer of soul from other yoni to human yoni ( also not everyone attains moksha in one human life).

So reproduction is essential act and any other sexual acts should be

avoided.

(And for the same reason "abortion is a sin" you just can't murder someone (it's like akal mritu).

So homosexuality is not an illness neither unnatural, having same sex relationship isn't a crime but should be avoided same as any other unnecessary sexual acts.

"Promotion" of traits like "kama, krodha, moha,mada, matsarya" is a sin (key word promotion) so stop promoting and glorifying and also stop hating them. Let them live like normal human make them understand "real goal of life" they themselves will not do it.

One last and most important thing please stop interpreting hindu scriptures to suit your some sort of "progressive western narrative" and worse calling gods bi et cetera, et cetera for validation.

Let them live normal attention free life no need to hate them or glorify them.
