One thing that& #39;s helped me (HOPEFULLY) get better at allying is thinking about how angry I get when a man is like "oh I& #39;m definitely not sexist, I& #39;m a huge feminist" when like OK bro you& #39;re a dude in a sexist culture sooo! But...I& #39;m a white person in a racist culture, sooo!
When there is a discussion going on in the LGBTQ+ community and straight allies jump in to take away time/attention, I hate it no matter how well-intended, which means I can see how my own well-meaning actions re: race have been harmful and silencing no matter what I intended.
