When we talk #humantrafficking prevention, we have to ask ourselves what needs survivors might be seeking to meet instead of just focusing on stopping the trafficking. Meaning, if a young person is homeless & we stop them from being trafficked but without providing housing,... 1/
Are we really improving their situation? If we stop a single parent living in poverty from being trafficked but leave them without resources to feed their families, are we really helping in the ways we should? 2/
An imperfect metaphor: If we have a kid eating junk food 24/7 because that’s what they can find to ease their hunger and we remove their access but without providing other more nourishing foods, what are they supposed to eat?

We have to strike at the roots of trafficking. 3/
The roots are poverty, food insecurity, homelessness, lack of healthcare, racism, transphobia, homophobia, oppression, etc. 4/
