Now @DistroKid - how are you going to take accountability as Dan here cannot be the only one affected.

What’s your POA for rectifying for others in the same position as Dan here? https://twitter.com/dan_vasc/status/1265632843767693312
The fact that you have agreed to return all funds to Dan is an admission of guilt that there is a flaw with your system.

One that went quietly unnoticed until pointed out. Now, an opportunity you can either sweep it under the rug OR do right by the Indies you claim to support.
So as another Intl musician using your service for years - are you going to examine this as a case study & rectify this as an issue potentially affecting hundreds if not thousands of your clients?

Or are you gonna pretend it never happened & leave us to contact you individually?
I should clarify here, to avoid confusion:

If it is the case that an individuals' income is to be held; it should be CLEARLY specified somewhere within the accounts held themselves that this is the case; or state clearly that X has been deducted for Reason Y (Annual report?)...
This should be documented clearly in any FAQ/ToS for the Service, be publicly available for the End User to consume - not only does this protect DK to a degree; but it leaves Musicians to become self-informed of their own business.

You're self-employed, get an accountant.
No Service is without flaws, be it DK, Soundrop, RouteNote, or (insert other distro company here), simply, if one doesn't work for you - try another.

Digital Music is not that hard to move between services if done so correctly and under advisement following best practices.
No individual should weaponise their peers/fans in a bid to drive the policy change of any business; I'm not saying that this is explicitly what happened here, but it has been done in the past, and it hurts not just the service, but everyone using it & the larger industry also.
The point of this thread is mainly to highlight the fact that we have precedent and history here for larger issues that affect massive amounts of musicians, many unknowingly, that don't seem to be addressed appropriately by the service, or when addressed are done so mockingly.
But at the same time, it's important to be aware and acknowledge that they're also not here to hold anyone's hand individually either.
Also - if $ is to be withheld for ANY reason, be it processing fees, account fees, tax withholding then you should NOT claim that an Artist retains 100% of their Royalties, as this could be generally viewed as quite misleading, especially for those who lack understanding.
