Here is a selection of top presenting tips… ( #thread) I'll add as we go :)

1.Its ok to get things wrong

To err is to be human and we connect best with people, so long as you recover and don’t fall apart, your audience won’t mind.

2.Don’t get stressed out by getting the words right.

Words are a way to achieve meaning/understanding, but it’s the meaning that matters, not how you got there.

Try learning bullet points, not word for word scripts.

3.What matters re body language is not what you do, but the effect you have. What does a presenter crossing their arms “feel” like to the audience? Or a presenter who talks to the slides? What impact does it have? Is that the impact you want?

4.Rule 1: There are no rules.

Communication is complicated, there is no one size fits all approach. Don’t learn a recipe, because every audience is different adapt every time.

5.Rule 2: Don’t do what you know is rubbish.

You know what makes a bad presentation. Make a list….

When its your turn, don’t do what’s on the list…
