I hope those of you who voted for trump in 2016 who are now speaking out about police brutality also understand how the perpetuation of these issues are interwoven within the trump administration and are willing to actually do something about it in 2020
Kind of disturbing how I’m noticing more than a handful of people who supported trump in 2016 and said BLM movements were dramatic and even “stupid” see the light only after having to have seen a man be murdered on video.
This is obviously not to insinuate this type of violence started in 2016 or will end when trump is gone- but if you still don’t understand how it is a MAJOR issue that these horrific issues aren’t a priority to the highest leaders you need to do a bit more than social media posts
These are not isolated incidents. These are systemic, long lasting, hate fueled movements that grow stronger under leaders who say not all white supremacists are bad and who give them a pass. You HAVE to understand that these videos are not new, they are simply evidence of an
Issue that has plagued our nation for as long as time can tell. You HAVE to understand what giving a pass to people who give a pass to white supremacists means. Your Facebook posts mean nothing if you support leaders who do not care, and even support violent racist attacks.
No more of this “it’s a business decision” nonsense some of you give as to why you support trump. It shouldn’t have taken you watching black men DIE on video to understand systemic racism, but since we’re here- understand what YOUR actions do to aid in black men dying.
YOUR actions are a part of a larger line of racism. It started in voting booths, it starts in your neighborhoods, it starts in your workplaces. It doesn’t START with cops murdering black people on the street. Do YOUR part and don’t make Facebook posts about wanting this to end
While you vote for leaders who could not care less.
