Alternatives to incarceration exist

And I think it's time some of you push back against the ways in which you've socialized and filled with a bloodlust for vengeance that's deeply rooted in racism, classism, and, believe it or not, sexism.

There are other ways

Throwing people "under the jail" doesn't bring any dead person back, doesn't heal any wounds, and costs taxpayers a lot of money. Never mind the torture, sexual violence, and mental anguish of prisons... think abt how YOU pay for that.

There are alternatives that are more accountable, have lasting impact, do more for rehabilitation and treatment, and cost tax payers less money.

I keep mentioned tax payers bc for some, money is the only thing that makes them think twice

I've been an ATI advocate since 2013-14 and I've gotten more vocal and passionate every year.

The rush to incarcerate terrifies me and makes me feel unsafe around so many people. The slightest thing, folks call for incarceration. It's unsettling.

Given everything we know about prisons, mass incarceration, solitary confinement, the rigged bail system, the numbers of innocent people in jail, should we not at least consider that there are alternatives?

For everyone whose life was destroyed by prison, don't we owe them that?

What do you think has a more meaningful impact?

6 months behind bars or being stripped of one's wealth?

12 months of jail or $12M in restitution to harmed families?
