alright y’all listen up cause I’m boutta explain why Mr. Spencer Reid is my favorite character so you guys can sit your butts down instead of calling it basic
disclaimer: yes i’m well aware that he’s the most common comfort character but I wasn’t there for MGG rather I found MGG through Spencer it wasn’t even about looks cause s1 was not my favorite look anywho
disclaimer 2: yes I know I don’t have to do this but I am quite tired of people coming at Reid stans on twitter because of tik tok reid stans so here we go
The biggest reason I love him so much is because I relate to him on so many levels. Things aren’t identical but similar enough that he just makes me comfortable
1. here’s a really basic answer but we’re both from Las Vegas so when he talks about the shitty school system I understand it, not to mention I understand how mean these kids are especially at the school he went to and mine.
2. his not so normal teenage life. i didn’t experience the parties, the kissing at a lake, or hell I barely went out with friends to the basic ass places like rollerrinks or cute lil cafes. so when the bau talks about that and he has no idea what they’re talking about i feel it
3. I’m no genius, and definitely dont have his IQ but being the resident smart kid? Story of My life. My family and friends all expect me to know all these things because of my grades and taking classes like anatomy but i don’t always know. Obviously this happens on another level
for Spencer Reid but similar enough in concept that I can relate. They seem genuinely shocked when I don’t know things like that.
4. The inherent mommy issues. He adores his mom yes but we all know he has mommy issues. So do I. My mom has her own issues that I don’t like disclosing either. Disappointing my mom is like one of my biggest fears and it’s also one of his
5. The Introversion. Spencer would rather have a night in with his small group of people then go out and be in a large group of people. Me too dude. I can’t talk to people for shite. I’m awkward and I get THAT look just like he does.
7. That Naivity that he has. We all know he’s a lil Naive and oblivious some times and so am i. If someone is flirting with me? I usually have no clue. Not knowing things that everyone around me knows? Happens more times than I like.
8. The tendency to keep shit to himself and want to do things independently even in a group. Ask my irls this is me. People come to me for advice but I rarely ask for it myself. And I can have people who want to help me but I’d rather do it on my own. Annoys people a lot.
Now that’s just how we’re similar but that’s not the only reason I like him. How he is with kids? Melts my heart. His ability to connect to people when others can’t? His tendency to defend others before defending himself? Admirable. I love Spencer Reid a lot.
