Getting a college degree should be safe, legal, and rare
And cheap, it goes without saying.
It’s mind boggling to me that for people studying essentially the same subject with professors doing similar enough research in a decently similar setting it has gone from summer job, work during college at most to needing to be rich to go to college without aid or loans
Bundling is bad, things should unbundled as much as possible. Why must the modern university be a career training program to some, a research hub, a social rite of passage (and one that at high level helps integrate lower class into elite), a sports team, program, etc
It’s worth noting that at a high level, at the most selective institutions, radically different things in nature are happening than at less selective ones geared towards the general population. This isn’t an elitist thing, I just mean diff goals, diff structure, even diff majors:
This causes lack of perspective IMO for elites who come from elite uni background and don’t realize how different most other universities are. Most unis aren’t politicized at all, a lot of them have a good proportion of students commute, higher amounts of adult students, etc
